Our Website Gets A New Look

Layers Squared is proud to announce our brand new website! Over the last five years, we've gone through no less than 3 websites, each one better than the last, before arriving at this one. We thought that since the Archive.org Wayback Machine doesn't really do justice to graphic design (it doesn't save images), we'd give you all a special Christmas present; kind of like A Christmas Carol, but all three ghosts are from the past. Click on the images to see the sites as they were before being taken down!

Round One — 2006

As Summer's boyfriend, and now husband, I've helped her out whenever I could over the years. I've done all website work, and until recently, all photography. When Summer first began producing lines in earnest, I used my Macromedia (now Adobe) Flash knowledge to craft a website. Summer oversaw all graphic design, sketching out ideas and icons that I pieced together to craft the site. It featured animated transitions, and "light-up" logos that followed your mouse... not the most professional look...

Round Two — 2009

I then went on to rebuild the site completely in early 2009 using the PHP language. This site had a drop-down menu for navigation, and laid out the galleries horizontally. This was still not the best, although my graphic design ability was improving. At this point I was working full time as a tilesetter, learning PHP by night.

Round Three — 2010

In late 2009/early 2010, I built a new site using the Drupal CMS. This lasted a couple years, but it's time for a new look. The current site is based on Drupal 7, and simplifies the structure quite a bit. I hope you like it!
